Andorra has a good spread of bases, each with its own take on what makes a family-friendly ski holiday. Soldeu is the most established option, with a compact village that's easy to get around on foot, English-language ski lessons, and kids' clubs alongside family-friendly hotels with their own pools and spas. There's plenty to fill a day off the slopes too, from ice skating and sledging to horse-drawn sleigh rides, or a trip to Naturlandia, home to the world's longest natural alpine slide. El Tarter sits just next door, with its own nursery areas and a quieter, more residential feel, alongside a solid choice of family restaurants for evenings that don't need to be an event.
Andorra has plenty of options for first-time skiers. Grandvalira has dedicated beginner zones at several base stations, giving first-timers plenty of room to progress at their own pace. Soldeu's ski school is particularly well-regarded for first-timers, with gentle progression slopes and patient, English-speaking instructors. Canillo is a good option for beginners, too. A gondola takes you directly from the village to wide, gentle beginner slopes, and the quieter pace here means less pressure from faster skiers passing by, which makes it a calmer place to build confidence.
Andorra's tax-free status keeps costs down across the board, from lift passes to shopping and eating out. Pas de la Casa is the most budget-friendly base overall, with plenty of self-catering apartments and a lively après scene built around its duty-free bars. For a quieter budget base, Canillo and Encamp both offer good-value accommodation and dining in smaller, more traditional villages, without Pas de la Casa's later nights.
Pas de la Casa is Andorra's liveliest base for après-ski, with most of the country's late-night bars, clubs, and duty-free drinks deals concentrated in one walkable stretch. It's a great hub for groups who want solid skiing by day and a proper night out after, since everything from the slopes to the bars sits within easy reach of the accommodation. Soldeu offers a more refined alternative, with relaxed bars, live music, and a social scene that stays lively without tipping into a full-on party atmosphere. Arinsal has a low-key, welcoming pub scene of its own, built around acoustic music and a friendly, unpretentious crowd.
Of all Andorra's resorts, Ordino is the clearest freeride and off-piste destination. Much of its terrain sits above the treeline, opening into wide bowls and ridgelines that give confident skiers real terrain to explore beyond marked pistes. The north-facing orientation gives reliable snow conditions, which sets up well for off-piste days. Ordino's freeride credentials are well established too, with the resort having hosted stops on the Freeride World Tour.
El Tarter is a great place to snowboard, whatever your level. The slopes are wide and varied enough to link long turns one run and tackle steep, more technical terrain the next, with plenty of natural rollers and side-hits for riders. It's a solid place to start out, with beginner-friendly runs and snowboard-specific lessons for those getting on a board for the first time. Riders have the snow park to play in as well, with a long run of kickers, rails, and boxes.
Encamp and Canillo offer a distinctly traditional side of Andorra. Encamp is a working Andorran town at heart, with local shops and restaurants serving hearty Catalan dishes like escudella and trinxat. Canillo has a similar pull, with stone buildings and old mills giving the village a real sense of history. Both are great bases if you want a proper introduction to Andorran culture alongside your skiing.
Yes. Andorra combines two ski areas, Grandvalira in the east and Vallnord in the west, giving skiers of every level plenty of room to explore. Grandvalira is the larger of the two, with wide cruising terrain across its resorts, while Vallnord adds tree-lined runs and some of the country's best off-piste. It's not as vast as the biggest Alpine areas, but there's enough terrain for a full week's skiing, and prices are noticeably lower too.

Compared to the Alps, yes. Andorra's tax-free status keeps food, drink, and shopping prices low, and lift passes and lessons tend to cost less than in France or Switzerland too. Accommodation also tends to offer more for your money, especially in the smaller villages.
The season runs from early December to mid-April. January and February offer the most reliable snow, while March brings warmer temperatures and longer days.
Grandvalira is the larger of Andorra's two ski areas, linking Soldeu, El Tarter, Pas de la Casa, Canillo, and Encamp on a single pass. Vallnord covers Arinsal and Ordino on the western side of the country, and tends to suit skiers after a quieter base or more off-piste terrain.
Andorra isn't as well known for steep terrain as the biggest Alpine resorts, with fewer black runs overall. Off-piste is where confident skiers get the most out of the country, particularly at Ordino, which has hosted stops on the Freeride World Tour thanks to its high, north-facing terrain.
Not necessarily. Ski buses run regularly between villages within each ski area, and several resorts are directly linked by gondola. Getting between Grandvalira and Vallnord takes a short drive or bus journey rather than a ski connection, so a car (or a transfer) gives you more flexibility if you want to explore both during your stay.

4.9/5Je réserve habituellement moi-même les vols, les transferts, l'hôtel, la location du matériel de ski et les forfaits ski, mais cette année j'ai utilisé WeSki pour un séjour à Morzine. C'était tellement plus simple. Tout a parfaitement fonctionné - les transferts sont arrivés à l'heure et il y avait beaucoup de retours d'information tout au long du processus, ce qui vous donne confiance que les vacances se dérouleront sans problème.
Un service vraiment utile qui est beaucoup plus facile à utiliser que d'autres sites "tout compris". Il comble parfaitement le fossé entre une agence de voyage et la réservation du séjour par vous-même en ligne. J'utiliserai WeSki chaque fois que j'irai au ski à partir de maintenant.
Nous avons réservé un séjour au ski de dernière minute à Morzine via WeSki. Nous avions envisagé de réserver le séjour nous-mêmes, mais nous n'avons pas pu trouver un prix aussi avantageux que celui proposé par WeSki. L'entreprise a été super et nous n'avons rencontré aucun problème du début à la fin. Je passerai certainement de nouveau par eux pour réserver un autre week-end au ski.
Une expérience fluide du début à la fin. Je passais des heures à essayer d'organiser un week-end et j'ai réussi à le faire avec WeSki en quelques minutes et pour le même prix que si je l'avais réservé moi-même.
