Joyau cachéTucked into the forest between Courchevel and Méribel, La Tania is a compact, purpose-built village in the heart of the Three Valleys - the world's largest linked ski area. Originally built for the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics, it has quietly grown into one of the French Alps' best-kept secrets: a friendly, family-oriented base with direct access to over 600km of pistes, but without the price tag or bustle of its bigger neighbours. Sitting at 1,350m with skiing up to 2,732m, the snow record here is strong, and the tree-lined runs back to the village make end-of-day skiing a genuine pleasure.
From La Tania's doorstep, you can ski directly into both the Courchevel and Méribel valleys. The local slopes wind through beautiful larch forest - perfect when visibility drops higher up - while the wider Three Valleys network provides 150km of pistes across the linked area and 600km in total, with terrain to suit every level. Gentle greens and blues sit close to the village, long cruising reds thread through the trees, and serious steeps are a short lift ride away on the Saulire and Col de la Loze. There's a terrain park, reliable snow cover, and a lift system that keeps things moving.
La Tania's village is small by design - you can walk from one end to the other in minutes - and that's part of the appeal. It's relaxed, safe for children, and refreshingly unfussy. Restaurants range from hearty Savoyard classics to crêperies and pizza spots, and the après-ski scene is friendly rather than frantic. For a change of scenery, Courchevel's shops and restaurants are just a gondola ride away. Check out La Tania ski deals to start planning your trip.
