Bachelor rises from a dormant volcano in the Cascade Range of central Oregon, in the United States, about 30 minutes from the outdoorsy town of Bend. The mountain’s shape is one of the things that sets it apart as a ski or snowboard destination. The ski area wraps right around a volcanic cone, so you can ski a full 360 degrees off the top, following the best of the sun and snow around the mountain as the day goes on. There's no slope-side village here, just a handful of day lodges on the lower flanks, and most people base themselves in the nearby town of Bend, where you’ll find a variety of accommodation options, restaurants, and a lively nightlife scene. Skiing has been part of the fabric here since the 1950s, and Bachelor still has a devoted local following that takes its powder days seriously.
When it comes to the pistes, Mt. Bachelor is a big mountain, and a well-rounded one. Beginners have gentle, confidence-building runs around the lower lodges, intermediates get the lion's share, with kilometre after kilometre of rolling groomers and lightly wooded glades to cruise, and strong skiers can strike out for the steep pitches and open bowls higher up, or drop off the back of the summit into committing terrain. Some of the descents are enormous, too, with the longest runs stretching well over 6km top to bottom. The snow is another draw here, since Bachelor sits high and catches Pacific storms, piling up over 10m in an average season. Its lifts often keep turning from late November into late May, one of the longest seasons in the country. Down at the base there's also an excellent Nordic centre, with a big network of groomed cross-country trails winding out through the forest.
A trip to Mt. Bachelor also means time in Bend, regularly rated one of America's best ski towns. There's plenty to fill the days beyond the pistes, from tubing and sledging at the sno-parks to snowshoe walks through the forest, ice skating in town, and dog-sled rides behind a team of huskies at the base of the mountain. Evenings here are easy to enjoy, often featuring a well-earned dinner out in the buzzy Old Mill District or a tour round the breweries of the famous Bend Ale Trail.

4.9/5Je réserve habituellement moi-même les vols, les transferts, l'hôtel, la location du matériel de ski et les forfaits ski, mais cette année j'ai utilisé WeSki pour un séjour à Morzine. C'était tellement plus simple. Tout a parfaitement fonctionné - les transferts sont arrivés à l'heure et il y avait beaucoup de retours d'information tout au long du processus, ce qui vous donne confiance que les vacances se dérouleront sans problème.
Un service vraiment utile qui est beaucoup plus facile à utiliser que d'autres sites "tout compris". Il comble parfaitement le fossé entre une agence de voyage et la réservation du séjour par vous-même en ligne. J'utiliserai WeSki chaque fois que j'irai au ski à partir de maintenant.
Nous avons réservé un séjour au ski de dernière minute à Morzine via WeSki. Nous avions envisagé de réserver le séjour nous-mêmes, mais nous n'avons pas pu trouver un prix aussi avantageux que celui proposé par WeSki. L'entreprise a été super et nous n'avons rencontré aucun problème du début à la fin. Je passerai certainement de nouveau par eux pour réserver un autre week-end au ski.
Une expérience fluide du début à la fin. Je passais des heures à essayer d'organiser un week-end et j'ai réussi à le faire avec WeSki en quelques minutes et pour le même prix que si je l'avais réservé moi-même. Le vol, le transfert et l'hébergement étaient tous comme prévu et nous n'avons rencontré aucun problème.
