Les Menuires is the most affordable entry point to the world’s biggest ski area, the Three Valleys, with a whopping 600 miles to explore. With its no-frills architecture and self-catering accommodation, Les Menuires is the humble home of the best selection of on-trail skiing in the Three Valleys. Below the Roc des Trois Marches in the east, there’s a fun set of swooping Blue Squares and ambitious Reds to carve. To the west, you’ll find a mix of fun runs on the Pointe de la Masse, plus ambitious Backcountry (off-trail) terrain that’s best early in the day since it’s mostly south-facing, warms up fast, and is known for occasional avalanches. Overhead, Val Thorens has the most reliable snow of all alpine resorts, with sectors that top 10,000 ft.
