A bit about Les Deux Alpes

4.5/5
WONDERFUL (273 REVIEWS)
273 REVIEWS
Les Deux Alpes gets reliable snow even in summer thanks to its glacier topping out around 12,000 ft, and it’s famous for its gnarly Backcountry (off-trail) terrain, 1,013 acres of marked runs, and being one of the oldest ski resorts in France. It draws stoked snowboarders, skiers, and freestyle fans from all over for its top-tier Toura snow park. This picture-perfect resort spreads across two mountainsides—just like the name says—and there’s something here for everyone. Along with Val Thorens, Les Deux Alpes is known for some of the best après in France, and it was named Europe’s Best Ski Village at the World Snow Awards 2015!

Les Deux Alpes, France

With 220 km of pistes spread over two main peaks and access to glacier skiing at 3,600 m (11,811 ft) , Les Deux Alpes is among France's best ski resorts for both families and thrill-seekers, offering a vibrant atmosphere with plenty of options on and off the slopes.

Skiing in Les Deux Alpes

Beginners: Free lifts at the village base serve gentle greens. Higher up, surprising for such altitude, you’ll find easy blues on the glacier, great for confident early progression.

Intermediates: Blues and reds drop from 3,200 m (10,498 ft) to resort for a 2,300 m (7,545 ft) vertical. The runs off the Diable chair and in the Toura sector are favourites for consistent pitch and morning sun.

Advanced & off-piste: Steep blacks like Diable 5 and mogul-strewn Fée 5 test technique. For real adventure, hire a guide to reach La Grave’s legendary off-piste via the glacier link.

Snowboarding: “Freestyle Land” in the Toura bowl offers lines for all levels plus a super-pipe when snow allows. Natural half-pipes under the Petite Aiguille chair and reliable lift access keep boarders smiling.

Families

Families will find Les Deux Alpes a great destination, with plenty of family-friendly facilities and activities. The resort’s ski-in/ski-out accommodation makes it easy to access the slopes, and the wide range of gentle runs ensures that everyone can find terrain suited to their level. In addition to skiing, families can enjoy ice skating, sledging, and snowshoeing, with plenty of leisure options to keep kids entertained.

Activities

Snow activities: Cross-country skiing, handiski/sit-ski, heli-skiing, ice-climbing, ski-joering.

Non-skiing activities: Bowling, cinema, paragliding, ice-skating, helicopter tours, a gym/indoor sports centre, Segway, tobogganing, mountaineering, and Geocaching.

Les Deux Alpes restaurants

The resort offers a variety of dining options from traditional French cuisine at Le Diable au Coeur and Le Shuss, to international dishes at Casa Nostra and gourmet meals at Le P'Tit Polyte.

Les Deux Alpes après-ski

Known for its vibrant après-ski scene, Les Deux Alpes features popular venues like Pano Bar, Smokey Joe's, L'Avalanche Club, and Le Polar Bear Pub.
