Flaine is a Bauhaus-inspired ski resort, known for having premium snow quality due to its location within a high forested snow bowl. This ski-in-ski-out resort is located within the vast Grand Massif area in the Northern French Alps. In the upper Flaine Foret zone, you’ll find a variety of self-catering apartments, and above the lower Flaine Forum zone, you’ll find hotels, apartments, shops, and restaurants. The place is well-suited for families, as it has plenty of safe areas for children and high-quality childcare options. There’s also 265 km of varied terrain and slopes for skiers of all abilities. You won’t find too much of an apres scene here, but other off-slope activities include an ice rink, ice-driving circuit, climbing wall, gymnasium, plus a cinema, art gallery, and library.

Flaine a modern marvel in the Grand Massif, is known for its exceptional snow conditions and stunning 360° views, including a spectacular vista of Mont Blanc. With its high altitude, excellent facilities, and a convenient short transfer from Geneva Airport, Flaine offers something for everyone, families, beginners, and skiers of all abilities.

Skiing in Flaine

Beginners: Free magic carpets by the Pré chair make first lessons stress-free. When snowploughs turn to parallel, take the superb 14 km Cascades blue, gentle, scenic and confidence-boosting all the way to Sixt.

Intermediates: Flaine is blue run heaven. Lap the cruisy Serpentine and Faust pistes, or explore linked reds across the Grand Massif to Les Carroz and Samoëns. Views of Mont Blanc appear around every corner.

Advanced & off-piste: Black pistes like Diamant Noir and the twisting Styx keep legs burning. Off the back of the Aujon and into the Gers bowl you’ll find steep faces and reliable powder, best skied with a guide.

Snowboarding: JamPark Pro at Aujon serves up jumps, rails and a super-pipe in good snow years. Elsewhere, natural rollers on the wide blues are perfect for practising tricks, and linked lifts mean minimal flat spots.

Families

Flaine is a top choice for families, with its car-free village and convenient ski-in, ski-out accommodation ensuring an easy, relaxed holiday. The resort’s layout ensures that most slopes lead directly back to the village, making it ideal for families with children. There are excellent family lift pass deals and plenty of nursery slopes. English speaking ski instructors make it easy for British families, and off the slopes, there are activities like bowling, swimming, and ice skating to keep the whole family entertained.
