Located in the Tyrolean Alps of Austria, Ischgl is a renowned winter sports haven, boasting an extensive and diverse ski area with over 150 miles of well-groomed trails. The resort, often called the "Ibiza of the Alps," mirrors Sölden’s vibrant après-ski scene, but with its own unique flair. Ischgl is celebrated for high-altitude skiing, with most slopes above 6,600 ft, delivering excellent snow from late November to early May. The resort links with the Swiss duty-free zone of Samnaun, giving you a cross-border skiing adventure. Beyond the slopes, Ischgl charms travelers with a village vibe that blends modern and traditional architecture. Après-ski here is next-level, with a ton of bars, clubs, and high-quality restaurants, keeping the energy high late into the night. The resort also hosts top-tier concerts and events throughout the season, cementing its status as a premier ski destination in the Alps.

Skiing in Ischgl

Beginners: Beginners can learn and practice in the high-altitude zone near the Idalp station, enjoying wide, sunny slopes.

Intermediates: Intermediate skiers will find the Palinkopf area's red runs both enjoyable and challenging, including a notable 12 km/7.4 mi run into Switzerland’s Samnaun.

Advanced: Advanced skiers have access to challenging on-piste blacks and touring routes, but the real thrill lies in guided off-piste adventures in the Silvretta arena.

Families

While the resort itself may not be the first choice for family-oriented ski holidays, the Ischgl Ski School addresses this by offering specialized programs for children. Starting with the ski kindergarten, which is ideal for 3 to 5 year olds, the school also conducts group ski courses for older children aged 6 to 15, focusing on skill development and enjoyment.

Activities

Snow activities: Floodlit skiing, ice skating, paragliding, sleigh riding, tobogganing, snowshoe walking, cross-country skiing, winter hiking, horse-drawn sleigh riding.

Non-skiing activities: Bowling, curling, leisure centre, local interest museum, water park with sauna, swimming pool.
