Dan spent a week in Tignes with friends, skiing its impressive pistes and across into Val d'Isère. He told us about his go-to après spot, his favourite mountain dish (fondue!), and why he'd definitely go back to see more of the resort.
"I have a feeling I haven't seen 50% of what it has to offer."
I loved the number of ski lifts, and the fact that you can ski between two resorts. There was an amazing, wide, and super long piste connecting Tignes to Val d'Isère. I remember skiing down it through the forest, with unforgettable scenic views.
We stayed at Residence Palfour, in a three-bedroom apartment. Whenever I'm on a ski trip, I like to stay somewhere super comfortable, because it's really important to me that the living area and shared spaces are inviting. I prefer that no one has to sleep on a sofa bed.
Arrive at the resort as early as possible, so you have time to relax, collect all the important stuff like equipment and ski passes, and pick up some groceries before having fun.
Wow, amazing! It was sunny almost all week, with one super snowy day in the middle.
Tignes Val Claret is an amazing village to be in, with some good après-ski. But the spot that definitely won is La Folie Douce in Val d'Isère.
For sure. I'd definitely go back, as I have a feeling I haven't seen 50% of what it has to offer. And I'd recommend it to everyone: families, friends, and couples.
For me it's always the same: when I finally eat my favourite food. Fondue!
