Each apartment has two bedrooms and sleeps up to four, so twelve people split three ways with a kitchen and a living room in each one. Room only gave a group this size the option to cook some nights rather than book a table for twelve every evening.

Why they picked this
Birmingham runs direct to Grenoble on a Saturday, which is the shortest way into the Tarentaise from the Midlands and under two hours each way. A late-morning departure meant twelve people did not need an airport hotel the night before, and the group was in resort for dinner.

Tignes has enough terrain for a week on its own, but the standard pass also opens Val d’Isère across the ridge, for 300km in total. A group of twelve rarely skis as one, and the wider area gave the beginners and the off-piste half of the group somewhere separate to go.
