From Champagny-en-Vanoise one gondola lifts you from the village to tree-lined blues and reds with quick links to La Plagne’s high alpine bowls.
Beginners: At the top of the gondola lies a well-designed learning zone, with gentle green runs and a snow garden ideal for first-timers. This is where local ski schools begin their lessons, making it easy for beginners to gain confidence on wide, forgiving slopes. The proximity of beginner-friendly terrain to the gondola’s summit allows for a relaxed start each day with stunning alpine views.
Intermediates: Champagny is a paradise for intermediates, with easy access to blues and reds that make up the majority of the local terrain. The fast gondola brings you up to 2,000 m (6,561 ft) in under 10 minutes, from where you can explore smooth cruisers and scenic descents. From here, it’s just a couple of lifts to Plagne Centre or even Bellecôte Glacier, placing the full expanse of the Paradiski area within reach.
Advanced: Advanced skiers will find much to enjoy, especially if they're up for long, technical reds or steep unmaintained routes. The Mont de la Guerre is a standout, a leg burning descent that winds all the way back to the village, while Le Bois offers a steeper, more technical route that stays open late into the season thanks to snowmaking. Those with the Paradiski pass can push further to Bellecôte and across to Les Arcs for even more demanding terrain.
Off-piste: While not a freeride mecca, Champagny has some worthwhile off-piste lines, especially above the gondola station and toward the Bellecôte sector. South facing slopes mean timing is key, so early starts are essential after snowfall. For serious off-piste adventures, a guide is recommended, particularly if venturing further into Paradiski's high-altitude zones.
Snowboarding: Snowboarders can enjoy varied terrain with mellow blues, well-maintained pistes, and tree-lined sections perfect for carving. The boardercross course offers a fun challenge for all levels. Those keen to explore more can easily reach terrain parks and freestyle features over in La Plagne.
Champagny’s calm, friendly atmosphere makes it ideal for families. The top-of-gondola snow garden is perfect for younger children, and the local independent childcare centre gives parents peace of mind. With a small-scale village feel, everything is within walking distance, and the gentle slopes nearby allow the whole family to progress together.
Snow activities: Tobogganing, snowshoeing, winter-walking.
Non-skiing activities: Cinema, library, casino, spa & wellness.
The culinary scene in Champagny revolves around hearty Savoyard fare and relaxed village eateries. You’ll find cosy spots serving cheese fondue, tartiflette, and raclette alongside more casual options like crêperies and pizzerias. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a long meal by the fire, the food is generous, comforting, and always satisfying.
Après-ski in Champagny is understated and authentic, with a handful of welcoming bars offering mountain charm and friendly service. For a relaxed drink after the slopes, head to one of the terrace cafés in the village centre. Those seeking a livelier end to the night can visit Le Galaxy, the local nightclub that keeps things going into the early hours, rare for such a peaceful alpine village.

I usually book flights, transfers, hotel, ski rental and lift passes myself but this year used WeSki for a trip to Morzine. It was so much easier. Everything worked perfectly - transfers arrived on time and there was plenty of feedback throughout the whole process giving you confidence the holiday would go smoothly.
A really useful service that is so much easier to use than other 'all-inclusive' sites. It nicely bridges the gap between a travel agent and booking the trip yourself online. I will use WeSki every time I go skiing from now on.
We booked a late minute skiing trip to Morzine through we ski. We looked at booking the trip ourselves but could get anywhere near the price quoted by we ski. The company was excellent and we had no problems at all from start to finish. I would definitely use them to book another weekend skiing trip.
Seamless experience from start to finish. I was spending ages trying to sort out a weekend break and managed to do it with we ski in minutes and for the same price as booking it all up yourself. Flight, transfer and accommodation was all as expected and faultless.
