Hidden gemPeisey-Vallandry is a charming and underrated base within the vast Paradiski ski area, offering doorstep access to both Les Arcs and La Plagne via the spectacular Vanoise Express cable car. The resort is made up of two high-altitude villages, Plan Peisey and Vallandry (both at 1,600 m/5,249 ft), as well as the more traditional Peisey village in the valley below. Each area brings something different: Vallandry has a central pedestrian zone with a warm village feel, while Plan Peisey is quieter and spread out around the lift station. Down in the valley, Peisey and the hamlets of Nancroix offer rustic alpine charm and beautiful views. Despite its relaxed pace, the resort has all the essentials for a comfortable stay; ski hire shops, ski schools, a small supermarket, childcare facilities, and a good range of bars and restaurants. The friendly, low-rise architecture and compact layout make it particularly convenient for families. Accommodation is mostly made up of self-catered apartments and chalets, with options for most budgets.

Peisey-Vallandry enjoys a privileged position in the Paradiski area, giving skiers direct access to 425 km (264 mi) of pistes spanning Les Arcs and La Plagne.
Beginners: Step off the high-speed Peisey chair to find an excellent novice zone: the Flocon and Cabri drags serve sheltered greens with great snow quality and sweeping views of the Tarentaise. Once you’ve mastered the basics, lap the slow 2300 chair for gentle blue pistes back to Plan-Peisey, or ride the bucket-lift from Peisey village for an easy download at day’s end.
Intermediates: This is prime cruising territory. From the top of the Grizzly chair, follow the flowing blue Forêt as it threads through larch woods, or carve the red Aigle and Ours, two of Les Arcs’ most popular runs for their consistent pitch and width. Strong blues and reds knit together all the way across to Arc 1800 and, via the double-deck Vanoise Express, into La Plagne for kilometre collecting day tours.
Advanced & off-piste: On-piste challenges are few, black Écureuils drops 600 m (1,968 ft) to Plan-Peisey and Bosses (accessed from the Derby chair) is a steep, ungroomed tree run, but the off-piste potential is vast. Hire a guide to ski powder lines off the Col de la Chal into the untracked bowls below Aiguille Grive, or tackle long itineraries into the Peisey-Nancroix valley with a shuttle-lift return. For a big mountain hit, cross the Vanoise Express to La Plagne and descend the 2,000 m (6,561 ft) north face of the Bellecôte.
Snowboarding: Boarders will love the natural half-pipes that form between forested rollers on the lower slopes, while the wide reds and blues above 2,000 m (6,561 ft) are perfect for laid-back carving. Freestylers can hop over to Arc 1800’s Apocalypse Park or La Plagne’s 7Cube Park, both an easy lift hop from Plan-Peisey. Tree-lined pistes give welcome visibility on storm days, and the Vanoise Express cabins are board-friendly, eliminating awkward T-bar rides.
Families will find Peisey-Vallandry a welcoming and practical choice. Both Plan Peisey and Vallandry have easy slope access, self-catering accommodation, and essential facilities within walking distance. Childcare is available at the Garderie Tom Pouce in Vallandry, which caters to little ones up to six years old. Gentle beginner zones and a wide choice of mellow pistes are ideal for learners, while older kids and parents can easily explore the rest of Paradiski together.
Snow activities: Winter-walking, toboggan, ice climbing, E-mountain scooters.
Non-skiing activities: Visits to the historic Baroque church, mountain animal museum, laser game, Varet glacier exhibition.
Peisey-Vallandry offers a laid-back but satisfying culinary scene that suits the resort’s relaxed, family-friendly vibe. In the villages, you’ll find a good mix of casual eateries and traditional Savoyard restaurants. Vallandry has a small pedestrian area where you can stop for crêpes at Le Rilax or enjoy classic mountain fare at Le Trapoun, a cosy local favourite known for its hearty omelettes and alpine dishes. On the slopes, Aux Enfants Terribles at the top of the Vallandry lift is popular for its panoramic terrace and variety of dining options.
Peisey-Vallandry’s après scene is low-key but friendly. The standout is Bar Mont Blanc in Vallandry, a popular slope-side spot with live music, comedy nights, and Sky Sports. Nearby Mojo Bar offers cocktails, DJ sets, and a casual vibe until late. For a quieter evening, Le Solan in Plan Peisey provides a warm, rustic setting with wine and sports screens.

I usually book flights, transfers, hotel, ski rental and lift passes myself but this year used WeSki for a trip to Morzine. It was so much easier. Everything worked perfectly - transfers arrived on time and there was plenty of feedback throughout the whole process giving you confidence the holiday would go smoothly.
A really useful service that is so much easier to use than other 'all-inclusive' sites. It nicely bridges the gap between a travel agent and booking the trip yourself online. I will use WeSki every time I go skiing from now on.
We booked a late minute skiing trip to Morzine through we ski. We looked at booking the trip ourselves but could get anywhere near the price quoted by we ski. The company was excellent and we had no problems at all from start to finish. I would definitely use them to book another weekend skiing trip.
Seamless experience from start to finish. I was spending ages trying to sort out a weekend break and managed to do it with we ski in minutes and for the same price as booking it all up yourself. Flight, transfer and accommodation was all as expected and faultless.
