A bit about Val di Sole

Stretching from the Brenta Dolomites to the Presena Glacier, Val di Sole is Trentino’s snow-sure corridor: 270 km/167 mi of runs rising to 3,000 m/9,842 ft, 93 modern lifts and 95 % snow-making for reliability from November to late April. One Skirama Dolomiti lift-pass unlocks three distinct playgrounds, Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta, Pontedilegno-Tonale and Pejo 3000, so you can carve wooded reds one day, lap glacier corduroy the next and finish on family-friendly pistes inside Stelvio National Park. Base yourself in villages such as Dimaro, Mezzana or the chic hub of Madonna di Campiglio and enjoy Trentino hospitality, thermal spas and a choice of four snowparks when the skiing day is done.

Val di Sole, Italy

Val di Sole folds three linked ski areas into one lift-pass: 150 km/93 mi of wooded pistes in the Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta carousel, the high-altitude slopes and snow-park of Passo Tonale, and Pejo 3000’s quiet runs inside Stelvio National Park. Variety for a week, seamless connections for easy day trips.

Skiing in Val di Sole

Beginners: Wide nursery slopes sit at the top stations of Folgarida’s Bamby chair and Pejo’s Biancaneve carpet, with progression greens such as Scoiattolo leading into gentle blues back to resort. Pejo 3000’s quiet, uncrowded pistes are ideal for first family forays.

Intermediates: This is red run heaven: cruise Folgarida-Marilleva’s tree-lined Orso Bruno, link across to Madonna di Campiglio for the rolling Cinque Laghi sector, then tackle Pinzolo’s 5 km (3,1 mi) Tulot Audi quattro run. Over at Tonale, the 11 km (6,83 mi) glacier to forest descent to Ponte di Legno gives a 1,700 m (5,577 ft) vertical workout.

Advanced & off-piste: Presena’s black Paradiso (3 000 m to 1 800 m) serves up steeps and views in equal measure; when powder falls, the open glacier bowls hold snow for days. Expert pistes include the World-Cup Canalone Miramonti in Campiglio and Folgarida’s black Nera. Hire a guide for Adamello back-country routes or Ortles-Cevedale ski-touring traverses.

Snowboarding: Four lift-served parks cover every level: Tonale Snowpark (2,000 m/6,561 ft) for kicker lines, Marilleva Snowpark by Doss della Pesa for rails and jumps, Ursus Park above Campiglio for pro-standard features, and Pejo Funslope for family freestyle. Natural half-pipes in the forests around Pinzolo add variety.

Families

Pejo 3000 brands itself the world’s first plastic-free ski area and focuses on families with magic carpets, wide blues and competitive pricing. Kinderlands in Folgarida and Marilleva run English-speaking lessons, while valley towns host skating lakes, climbing walls and the interactive MMape honey museum for off-slope fun.

Activities

Snow activities: cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, winter walking, tobogganing, ice-skating, snow biking, fat biking.

Non-skiing activities: indoor climbing, castle visits, Ice skating, thermal spas.

Après ski in Val di Sole

Evenings are relaxed and scenically set. In Campiglio, the Viviani square buzzes with Spritz and DJ sets, while Folgarida’s Michelangelo bar hosts live acoustic sessions. Tonale’s Bar Heaven pours two-for-one cocktails at sunset, and Pejo’s Malga Talè serves craft beers by an open fire. For a mellow finish, unwind in Dimaro’s Terme della Salute with outdoor hot pools under the stars.

Restaurants in Val di Sole

Mountain dining marries Trentino produce with Dolomite vistas: Chalet Fiat above Campiglio pairs alpine-chic interiors with canederli dumplings and local Pinot Grigio, while Malga Valbiolo at Tonale is famed for polenta and slow-cooked venison. Back in the valley, Ristorante Al Maso in Dimaro grills Val di Sole apples with mountain pork, and La Spleuza in Mezzana offers wood-fired pizzas alongside a cellar of Trentino reds, perfect fuel after a day exploring three ski realms in one.
